 “Hymns & Harmonies”, The Helms Family Band’s first album release could not be more aptly named. They say family harmonies are the best and after listening to this album, you will agree. Tim Helms (husband to Charity, and father to their four talented children — Sam (18), Emeline (16), Libby (13), and Annie (7)) produced a great little mix of songs here — everything from gospel favorite “Because He Lives” to the more recent “Whom Shall I Fear” to the simple country tunes “I Saw the Light” and “I’ll Fly Away” — all with a distinctively bluegrassy/country flair. Everyone takes a turn at the mic except for Sam who plays the bass guitar and ukulele, with Tim managing all the other instruments. The final track, “Jesus Love Me” is a real treat with each daughter taking a verse. This is a family who loves Jesus and it definitely comes through in their music.
